Shyam Desai, DMD

Dr. Shyam Desai is a board-certified orthodontist who has been creating healthy, confident smiles since 2008. He loves meeting new families and helping patients of all ages achieve smiles they are proud to share. Combining advanced training with years of clinical experience, Dr. Desai is committed to providing personalized orthodontic care in a comfortable, welcoming environment.

His expertise in diagnosis, treatment planning, biomechanics, and modern orthodontic techniques allows him to deliver outstanding results while making the treatment experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Nothing is more rewarding to Dr. Desai than seeing a patient's confidence grow throughout their smile journey.

After graduating from Shelton High School, Dr. Desai earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating summa cum laude. He then received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers) before completing his orthodontic residency and Master of Dental Science degree at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Desai has also published orthodontic research, including the study “Dynamic Smile Analysis: Changes with Age,” which reflects his passion for combining science, technology, and artistry to create beautiful, lasting smiles.

Since moving to North Carolina in 2023, Dr. Desai has enjoyed building relationships with local families and becoming an active member of the community he serves.

When he's not in the office, Dr. Desai enjoys spending time with his wife, Kinnari, and their four children. He loves golfing, staying active, exploring health and fitness, and cheering on his favorite teams, including the New York Yankees, UConn Huskies men's basketball, New York Giants, New York Knicks, and Carolina Hurricanes.
